The World First Mythic +15 in The War Within has been claimed!

A new milestone has just been hit in The War Within, as we have our first timed Mythic +15 keystone!

In fact, we didn’t just get one, but two completed and timed +15 keystones back-to-back, with two separate teams from China racing for the coveted World First.

Congratulations to 戰临丶, 蓝小北, Flareup, 哆啦丶, and 奶球龙!

The team managed time a +15 Mists of Tirna Scithe in 28 minutes and 45 seconds, leaving all the other teams in the dust. However, it was a much closer affair than you might think, as another Chinese team claimed a +15 Ara-Kara, City of Echoes only 22 minutes later!

You can also check out the Routes for both the +15 Mists of Tirna Scithe run, as well as the +15 Ara-Kara, City of Echoes, thanks to our nifty Auto Route Creator feature. If you’d like to race against the times of these two teams, click on the M+ Replay icon in the leaderboard to add the runs into your Mythic+ Replay System through the Raider.IO In-Game AddOn!

Compared to previous expansions, the lower key-levels being achieved in the world’s most cutting-edge runs is due to the changes to the Mythic+ key-level system that was introduced in Season 4 of Dragonflight already. On top of the key-level change, we’ve also seen a big rework to the Mythic+ Affix system in The War Within, and any key at +12 or higher sees a major jump in difficulty, making this +15 an incredible accomplishment that only a handful of teams will be able to mirror in the upcoming days and weeks.

The team played a composition that key-pushed of the last few weeks are very familiar with at this point, with 戰临丶 playing Guardian Druid, 蓝小北 playing Restoration Shaman, Flareup playing Arcane Mage, 哆啦丶 playing his Frost Death Knights, and 奶球龙 playing an Augmentation Evoker.

For the first few weeks of The War Within Season 1, we’ve seen a very similar comp rise to prominence, although we’ve quite often seen a Vengeance Demon Hunter instead of the Guardian Druid, and a minor change-up between Frost or Arcane Mages. Looking at last week’s most popular comps at keystone level +12 or higher, we see that there is very little difference between the top comps, with the most prominent difference being the choice of tank.

It doesn’t seem likely that we will see a +20 done this season, as the World First +15 squad already sits at an average item-level of 630.52! While teams will reach an item-level of ~638 towards the end of the season, this is unlikely to make a +20 possible due to how quickly the damage intake on both the tank and the entire group scales up in these dungeons. However, perhaps there is a glimmer of hope for a +20 this season, as we’ve seen Blizzard be swift with nerfs in recent weeks, making some of the dungeons significantly easier. On top of individual dungeon nerfs, Blizzard has also nerfed the Xal’atath’s Guile affix, reducing its increase to enemy HP and damage from 20% to 10%. With this nerf, players estimated that we’d likely start seeing keys pushed at ~2 levels higher, and that we have! This nerf is certainly a factor in why we have now seen our first two completed +15 keys, and we expect to see more to follow in the upcoming days.

If you want to watch the current #1 and #2 teams, you can follow their streams live on Chinese streaming site DouYu! Zhan Lin 战临's team that timed the World First +15 in Mists of Tirna Scithe can be followed from Zhan Lin’s PoV, while Yu Fan 雨帆 Semage's team that timed the +15 Ara-Kara, City of Echoes only 22 minutes later, can be seen on Semage’s stream as well!

Congratulations once more to both teams, and we can’t wait to see them and teams from all regions push the Season 1 dungeons to new and unseen heights!
