After seemingly some issues with the dungeon scaling for Siege of Boralus, the Time Trials had been reset for everyone and replaced Siege with a new dungeon:

The clock has struck, and the Time Trials have officially begun!

The two dungeons have been revealed as well, and it will be our first MDI with the new TWW-themed affixes. Managing the exact spawn timer for these might play a big role in getting the fastest keys possible, so teams have to think a bit deeper than just cooldown timings and routes this time around. Keys will begin at +5, and once keys reach the Time Trial cap of +10, the speedrunning truly begins.

City of Threads is one of the two Time Trial dungeons, and the affixes for it will be   Xal’atath’s Bargain: Devour,   Fortified,   Challenger’s Peril and   Tyrannical. Some of these affixes will only apply once the key is pushed high enough, of course, in the same way as it works on Retail servers.

This choice of dungeon will likely upset some teams and players, as there is quite a bit of RP in this dungeon, which will make for a somewhat frustrating Time Trial experience. We do not know if the Roleplay section after the first boss is as random as it is on Retail servers, or if they are 'seeded', meaning that the locations of the 4 adds will be the same for every team, for every run. If it is not seeded, then this will cause a lot of extra frustration, as the difference between a good and bad RP section can easily end up costing 20-30 seconds. With teams replaying the dungeon over and over and over again, this can quickly lead to some frustrating moments. We do not expect the choice of Affix to play a major role here, as pulls will end up very big, and the Healing Absorb is one of the easier to deal with Affixes, especially when you can get some value out of the tertiary Leech stat when doing massive pulls.

The second dungeon will be Siege of Boralus, with   Xal’atath’s Bargain: Voidbound,   Fortified,   Challenger’s Peril and   Tyrannical. The dungeon was redesigned since we last saw it, with many more dangerous trash mobs, and everybody starting on the Alliance side of the dungeon. Masspulling could be quite complicated since the Irontide Raiders can quickly kill off people if you pull multiple of them.

Since both dungeons have their highest timed key on live servers on +15 at the moment, and players will go into these dungeons on the Tournament realm with significantly more gear, we do not expect too many problems in either dungeon, other than trying to get the best time possible.

Welcome everybody to our Mythic Dungeon International Coverage for The War Within Season 1! It has been a while since we've had some Mythic+ esports goodness, but it is finally time. Today marks the beginning of the first Season of Mythic+ extravaganza in the new The War Within expansion for WoW, with five full days of Time Trials beginning in a little under an hour!


In just a few weeks we will be crowning a new MDI Champion, with over $250,000 USD available in prizes for the teams. With the re-opening of the Chinese servers earlier this year, we will also once again have a fully International event, as 2 teams from China will be able to qualify for the Global Finals on November 22nd!


The Time Trials will start off the same as they always have, with two dungeons being selected from the available Season 1 dungeon pool. Teams will be able to play up that key up to a certain point, and will then have to run the keys as fast as possible. Once the five days of Time Trials have commenced, the 16 fastest teams from NA and EU will be able to move on to the Group Stage, while China will run their qualifiers separately.

The Time Trials will kick off in just about an hour, and we will provide regular updates on the developments on the Tournament Realm and its standings. Let's hope for a great start into the new Worldsoul Saga, with a highly competitive and exciting first MDI!
