Mandatory, the reigning MDI champions, take home the win in Group B of the War Within Season 1 MDI, but it was far from easy. Despite a few hiccups in some of the dungeons, they consistently seemed to have just a tiny bit of extra damage or slightly better routing in some of these dungeons, and while these only ended up leaving them with a single-digit lead, i.e. 7 seconds in Dawnbreaker, those 7 seconds were all they needed.
Congratulations to Mandatory for the victory, and to Holy Moly and Ducks Can Fly for qualifying to the Global Finals. All three times join Perplexed, Polish Mountain and Missed Count, and we now await the Chinese group stage, that will give us our final two teams for the Global Finals on November 22nd.
Group B was definitely a very close affair, with Ducks Can Fly coming in as the fifth seed, but beating out both Cursed and NoTitle in direct series to join the other teams in the Top 3, and thus making it to the Global Finals for the first time ever. Mandatory and Holy Moly both looked very evenly matched throughout their series, and we hope that this bodes well for a super tight and competitive Global Finals, that will truly be Global this time around with the addition of two Chinese teams. Their Groupstage will be rebroadcast on November 19th, so make sure to catch that one if you can!
A special shoutout to Les Bros Canteurs, Advance, Some Seriousness, Cursed and NoTitle for making this Group as close and competitive as it could possibly be, and we hope to see many of these teams again in the future, whether it be the next MDI, or the TGP that will happen later this season.
If you want to check out the full winners interview with Hopeful and Stove from Mandatory, we got you covered as well of course!
After such an exciting Groupstage, we will have to take a bit of a breather, and the AWC finals will be happening next weekend already so there is not much time to relax. Until then, we hope you all enjoyed our coverage and are looking forward just as much as we are to the AWC and MDI Global Finals these next two weekends, as well as the Warcraft 30th Anniversary Direct on Wednesday!
See you next weekend!

Mandatory have done it! In a 11.52 run they claim victory in the fifth dungeon of this series, and ends things with a 3-2 victory. Holy Moly was only a few seconds behind them, but it just wasn't enough to win the dungeon themselves. This has been the case in some of the earlier dungeons as well, but boy was this a close series with a lot of back and forth -- and a perfect end to the Group B MDI!

Mandatory ended up doing ~0.7% more damage to the boss, and now we have a neck and neck race to the finish line. Which team will be able to claim victory?
